The Cost of Political Correctness: Wikileaks and Fort Hood
What happens when you mix political correctness with the United States military? You get the Wikileaks dump of classified military intelligence, endangering the lives of Americans in harms way. And you already got the death of thirteen at Fort Hood. How so?
Wikileaks posts a lot of inocuous information that simply embarrasses the US military/industrial/govt. complex. It will probably be used by the neocons to curb or shutdown the internet access. I believe the executive branch already told the military they can't peruse wikileaks websites. Our Federal Govt. officials believe any information that is not spun by them should not to be allowed public consumption. I used to think I lived in a democracy run by an informed citizenry; I was wrong. I now believe that the federal govt. in particular is run by deception and corruption (through various conspiracies). Unfortunately our military is an unwitting tool for them.
I agree with the last post and I think Kent should think again about who are the real culprits who are committing treason. The real Patriots are the ones exposing the tyrants who run our government.
Leaks that give away military secrets of the United States, that risk the lives of American soldiers is not innocuous. That is treason. And I'm speaking of the member of the United States military who leaked them. He's not a real patriot, but a disgruntled young man with a chip on his shoulder, and then someone who uses him to further his own agenda. Get real.
Hello Kent, my name is Dave Moorhouse and I wrote the first comment. I don't condone unlawful conduct by military personnel, but I agree with the commenter above as to who the real patriots are. Real patriots uphold the Constitution such as Specialist Michael New and Lt. Col. Terry Lakin. New was court martialed and dishonorably discharged for refusing to wear a UN uniform (a foreign government), and Lakin is being court martialed for questioning the commander in chief's Constitional qualifications. I salute these patriots. I see the real traitors as those in the chain of command who abandon their Constitutional resposibilities and do what's politically expedient. This includes the Supreme Court judges whose duty is to address these issues, but instead try to dodge them by muttering things like we have no juridiction or you have no standing. New and Lakin were court martialed for believing what I believe as well. If they are unpatriotic then so am I. I don't give uncritical support for much of what the fed. govt. policies are or the tools they employ to enforce them. I support a limited use of fed. military for self defense and border patrol, but not for global hegemony. To me, the eight years of Bush/Cheney military control was a disaster, which continues. It would be nice if Wikileaks would help to stop the war, like the Pentagon Papers.
