The intervening passage between this verse and 11:26 seems to make it plain that Paul is not just talking about the eventual salvation of Israel in totality as a nation. He is also interested in seeing individual Israelites be saved as well.

This is why he addresses their present ignorance (vv. 2-5), the availability of the Gospel truth (vv. 6-8), the individual ability to respond to the Gospel unto salvation (vv. 9-11), and this availability in this present age as applying to both Jew and Gentile (vv. 12-13), before proceeding to the discussion about God using the Gentiles to provoke envy in Israel. Note also that Paul says in 11:14 that this provocation included the end result that God "...might save some of them." Clearly Paul has individual Israelites being saved in view, as well as the eventual result of "all Israel" being saved in that Day.

If you want your children to be saved, teach them until they know the holy scriptures. The Bible is sufficient for this.

True. Scripture is entirely sufficient to make a child "wise unto salvation." I am also glad to see you refer to Colossians 1:9,

"For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding."

Yet, am perplexed by your forgetting that II Peter 3:9 tells us flat out that it is not God's will that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. God's will is for people to be saved, even though, yes, many will resist His will to their eventual and eternal damnation. God's will is for our children to be saved. One would think that this being filled with the knowledge of His will with all spiritual wisdom and understanding would include praying for the lost to be saved as this salvation, this coming to repentance, is specifically said to be God's will.

I would almost go so far as to ask how one can claim to have this spiritual wisdom and understanding if one does not pray for something so basic, yet so obviously and clearly told to us as God's will.

Your arguments seem (though perhaps I am misinterpreting them) to be presenting a false dichotomy: either you teach your children the Bible to make them wise unto salvation, or you pray for them to be saved. In fact, you should do both. Teach them God's Word, teach them the scriptures that are able to make them wise unto salvation, while also praying that God would open their minds and hearts to the knowledge of His will for them, their salvation, so that they might gain this wisdom and understanding. One person, I'm pretty sure I know, and he's not supposed to be able to post. And then there is someone else who posted something positive, but I wasn't sure it wasn't him again. If the anonymous posters are different people, sorry about that, but I can't distinguish and I don't want to give the impression that I only allow for positive comments, so I deleted the negative and then the positive, both.Kent Brandenburghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13419354741455959191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20213892.post-54089304066469277792014-07-22T16:37:50.149-07:002014-07-22T16:37:50.149-07:00Bro.
