Recent Sundries

A little less than a month ago, Bobby Mitchell and I both preached in a preaching conference at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO.  They have the sermons of the conference online.  Pastor Mitchell (Acts 16:1-5) and myself (2 Corinthians 12:9) both exposed passages.  You can listen to his at this link and mine at this one.

I announce here the engagement of a young man in our church, David Warner, to a young lady, Julianna Wilhite, who is daughter of our missionaries, Jerry and Debbie Wilhite.  The date is Friday, August 1, at the Lehigh Valley Baptist Church in Emmaus, PA.  We rejoice in this future wedding and new family.

Two more things.  My second daughter, third child, Natalie, finishing up 11th grade this year in our school, will play first violin as part of her orchestra, Young People's Symphony Orchestra, at Carnegie Hall and Central Park in New York City, and then Harvard's Sanders Theatre at Memorial Hall in Cambridge, Massachusetts with the New England Conservatory Youth Symphony.  The tour is June 15-22.  She'll be flying in early to be in church on Sunday.

YPSO will play at 11:30am on Monday, June 16, at Central Park Bandshell, on Tuesday night, June 17, in the Isaac Stern Auditorium in Carnegie Hall (tickets), and on Friday, 8pm, June 20, at Harvard.  If you are in the area, you can come and see them.

Natalie auditioned and was accepted with a scholarship into the Stanford Youth Orchestra, a three-week (July 6-26) intensive orchestral and academic program this summer on the campus of Stanford University. Bringing together world-renowned faculty instructors, the Stanford Youth Orchestra provides participants with exceptional orchestral training in the new state-of-the-art Bing Concert Hall (Bing Concert Hall fly through).
